The cozy Pod Hotel roof top

I have a thing for roof tops bars/decks and lucky for me, NY has a ton that offer breathtaking city sights. Just last Monday, my friend Carissa was back for a short visit and invited me an another friend, Ina, to catch up at The Pod Hotel near Grand Central.

The Pod Hotel is a cost-efficient, hip and convenient accommodation for the thrifty traveler (ahem, me!) Aside from its funky interiors, the hotel offers a roof top where you can sip on cocktails while watching the infamous NY sunset.

The open roof top has brick, ruins-inspired pillars with vines growing on them. I especially love the casual lights hanging above. I find the place really pretty and romantic. It would actually make a perfect venue for a cozy, non-conventional, fun wedding reception.

When the weather got a bit too chilly for us sun worshippers, we moved to the covered part of the bar, which is as just as pretty as the outdoor area. It's interesting how there's no one theme to it. The interiors inside have some Spanish/Mexican influences to it with all the pretty colors and patterns.

Oh, let's not forget about the Chinese lanterns. The place is schizo in terms of interior design but what's funny is how it actually works. I guess the area really represents the city it's in--a melting point of cultures!

The lobby also has a funky Spanish/Mexican inspired cantina called Salvation Taco. I am so in love with the interiors. The lanterns are just too gorgeous!

Unfortunately, we were not able to stay longer to actually experience the food which gives me a great excuse to go back again!
