Jollibee Style Sweet Filipino Spaghetti Recipe

As a true blue Filipino, I grew up eating and loving Jollibee. Aside from the delicious Chicken Joy, my favorite dish has got to be the Jolly Spaghetti. Unlike the traditional Italian Spaghetti, what makes this Filipino favorite different is that its sauce is sweet. Yes, sweet and full of flavor, combining ground beef and hotdogs cut into small pieces. Hotdogs in spaghetti? Yup, you read that right!

There are days when I just crave for my Jolly Spaghetti. Luckily for me, there's a Jollibee outlet that's just a quick 20-minute drive away from us. I once took B to Jollibee because integrating my culture into his life is a hobby of mine. He comes from an Italian - American family and I wasn't quite sure of what he would think of my beloved spaghetti. The verdict? He liked it... Though I think it took more than a few bites for him to appreciate it.

The two loves of my life

While Jollibee is a quick 20-minute drive away, my laziness overcomes me so, I don't get to eat the dish as much as I would like to. Then, I saw this in our Asian market.

Smile Makeover? Is it for me?

I've been conscious about my teeth for as long as I can remember.

It all began at a family reunion. I have an uncle who has a penchant for capturing moments and true enough, he was present with his handy cam (see, this was way back in 1998 and big, boxy video cameras with V8 tapes were the trendiest gadget on the block!)

A week after the reunion, we all sat down in the living room to watch his film and there was a short "interview" of me there. He then pointed out, "Hey, you have something in between your teeth!"

Embarrassed, I quickly looked closer at the television. No, there was nothing in between my teeth. The horrible truth was, in certain angles and lighting, since my two front teeth were a little inward pointing, it looked like:

a.) I have something stuck between them
b.) I don't have them at all!

And that's when I decided there was no way I will allow myself to be photographed with my teeth showing (yes, I was on this trend waaaaay beyond Victoria Beckham and no, it's not because I have a commitment with the fashion community. Extra: Watch this video to find out why VB does not smile.)

The Proposal

Palawan may be the top island in the world right now but my heart belongs to Boracay. Ever since I first walked on its white, sandy beach and swam in its clear, blue, calm water back in 1998, I was hooked.

When I was living in the Philippines, my friends and I took advantage of the affordable flights and long weekends by booking trips to this magical island. I'm glad I did that because now that I live in NY, I have those memories to keep me warm especially on long, cold winter nights.

Brian knows about my fascination with Boracay. He has seen thousands of photos of it, and admittedly, knows my "Boracay-is-such-a-magical-island-with-water-so-blue-you-can-see-to-the-bottom" spiel by heart.

In fact, when I moved in with him, one of the first things I did was hang a photo that I took of Boracay on our bedroom wall as a reminder of my happy place. Yes, I love Boracay THAT MUCH.

Coming to America: How to become a US Permanent Resident on your own

Today, I am officially a permanent resident of the US!

Yes, you're about to unlock the secret on how you can become a permanent resident/ green card holder in the US through self sponsorship. You read that right. You don't need to be an international student, get a US based company to sponsor you or be in love with a citizen to become one.
All you need is yourself.
Does it sound too good to be true? It sure does and the best part is that it's true and I am the living proof that it can be done.

Finding "The Perfect Wedding Dress" in less than 2 months!

They say that just like love, once you see, feel and fit the perfect wedding dress -- you just know it's "the perfect dress". I've always envisioned my wedding dress shopping to be somewhat like a 20-minute episode of Say Yes To The Dress -- Champagne, tears, 'Ohhs' and 'Ahhs'.

The reality? Nothing like it. Well, maybe just the 'Ohhs' and 'Ahhs' part is true.

My fiancé and I are a practical couple with practical budgets so, we try to cut cost whenever we can. Since I've never been married before and I'm a recent NY transplant, I have to rely on research and word-of-mouth when it comes to planning our wedding. And, based on what I've found, the best dress showroom to shop at when finding your dream wedding dress (based on affordability + style options) is RK Bridal right at the Garment District.

For RK Bridal first-timers, it can be quite an overwhelming experience, especially if you don't have at least a vision of "the perfect dress" in mind. Why? Well, because, when you enter the store, you will be welcomed with this... And this is just 1/10th of the space!:

Rows and rows of bridal dresses in every possible shapes, sizes and colors.

RK Bridal has the latest styles from top designers like Maggie Sottero, Rosa Clara, and they offer the best prices! If you see your dress being offered for less in another showroom, they will even match the price.
